Dr. Judith Quander is Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development for the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD). As the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development, Dr. Quander is dedicated to supporting UHD faculty and providing opportunities for growth in teaching, scholarship, and service. She also assists the provost in faculty-related matters, including overseeing the rank and tenure process, the grievance process, and faculty hiring. Additionally, Dr. Quander is responsible for welcoming and orienting new faculty and providing programming for all faculty members. This includes initiatives such as New Faculty Orientation, Faculty Retreats, Tenure Academy, Early Faculty workshop series, and other programs designed to support faculty. Dr. Quander is a Professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and has been a faculty member at UHD since Fall 2010.
She is also a full professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Houston-Downtown. She earned a PhD in Mathematics Education from University of Georgia, an MS in Mathematics from University of Arizona, and a BA in Plan II and BS in Mathematics from UT-Austin. Prior to UHD, she was Director of Research for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. After completing her master’s degree in mathematics, Dr. Quandar became a middle school mathematics teacher in Tucson, Arizona. That experience influenced her decision to pursue mathematics education as a career.
Dr. Quander lives in Sugar Land, Texas with her husband and two children.
