Jovanni Ortiz has been a member of Hofstra University’s Department of Public Safety for nearly five years. In his current role, he oversees community engagement initiatives, campus transportation services, and special projects, working to strengthen relationships between Public Safety, students, faculty, staff, and community partners.

Prior to joining Hofstra, Mr. Ortiz ed for the Center for Employment Opportunities, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping formerly incarcerated individuals secure meaningful employment. He also worked with the Nassau County Police Department, focusing on community engagement, outreach, and diversity initiatives. In addition, he spent several years working in government and politics, gaining valuable experience in public affairs.

Mr. Ortize earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the New York Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Molloy University. He is also a member of the National Honor Society for Criminal Justice Professionals.
