Upholding records of high academic achievement and extraordinary extracurricular accomplishments, recipients of this year’s Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarships follow in the footsteps of young leaders who proceeded them – and give rise to a celebration of 50 years of excellence and service!
The 54 newly chosen JRF Scholars hail from 23 states and the District of Columbia and will begin their first years of college at 43 colleges and universities across the country this fall.
The 50th anniversary JRF class of 2028 includes six (6) valedictorians, three (3) salutatorians, three (3) class presidents, and seven (7) members of the National Honor Society. An impressive 35% of this class of JRF Scholars graduated in the top 10th percentile of their high school classes.
The first-year Scholars were selected from more than 5,000 applicants. JRF Scholars receive grants averaging $32,000 distributed over four years and enjoy a host of mentoring support and programmatic resources during their college careers, including fully-paid attendance at JRF’s annual, four-day Mentoring and Leadership Conference (MLC), career guidance, internship and permanent job placements and facilitation, travel abroad opportunities, and practical life skills and leadership training.
Since inception, 50 years ago, JRF has provided $124 million in scholarships and direct program support for more than 2,200 students.
